I love the lighting in this image Richard, not too bright, not too dark, very contemplative as it should be. At first I didn't like the expansive foreground, but with the tiny headstone and shadows poking in, I now like the suggestion that the cemetery is unending. Well done!

Richard, a very peaceful mood is what I feel when viewing this image. From the settled headstones to the detail of the trees on the ridge, everything flows together. everything is in sync timewise where nothing is in a hurry to get anywhere. forever is the word. Great composition.

The time has caused the stones to settle, they are tipping every which way. Look at the detail you got up on that mountain ridge! Look at those trees up there, I find that just cool!

I really appreciate your nice comments especially when I am learning to be more critical of my images. I do tend to plan my photos now more than I use to, so this was a planed outing.
The day before there was rain with a constant fifteen to twenty mile an hour wind blowing, I knew the Great Smoky Mountains would be unusually crisp and clear but I did not expect the bright blue skies and the nice fluffy clouds. I knew from experience that the afternoon light at the Fox Family cemetery could be remarkable and I got much better light than I expected

What a great viata to contemplate for eternity too!
Great composition, the low afternoon light has nicely defined the markers.

This is a stunning composition! It would also have made a great leading lines entry. I can't help looking up the row of gravestones, back to those hills beyond. There's eternity in the earth, the stones, the sky.

Looks like many of these markers are very old but I also detect some more recent ones, which is similar to most of our local graveyards. However, at the point of death, time becomes exactly the same for all. Nonexistent.

Well done.
