These naturally occuring boulders, of igneous origin, lie outside our gate, across the street.
Boulders and rocks of varying sizes are used to construct the sturdy and picturesque walls that enclose the fields.
The boulder walls are evocative of the Yácatas'; grand ceremonial platforms built by the Purépechas before the arrival of the Spanish. Gradually, stone walls are being replaced by modern enclosures of mortar and fitted stone, and in a few cases, by chain-link fences.
