Destiny is an event that will inevitably happen in the future

We arose early, had coffee and set off for CT. The GPS had her address with an estimated 3 hour drive. The only glitch was that Howard had come down with laryngitis! His voice was now a whisper. We prayed for it to break up and that he'd be able to "talk". We were to call Sadie when we got to the entry of her complex. We made one coffee stop; hoping it'd help his throat. The snowy terrain was fun to look at along the way. As we arrived to her driveway, the excitement grew. THIS is where 'mom' lived!! He was out of the car pretty fast, taking hold of the boquet of roses he'd gotten her and up the front walk he went. Sadie was standing at her front storm door. I came right behind with my small camera set to video. They embraced and exchanged greetings: "My son!" and "Hi mom!" She remarked, "finally... I've waited my whole life for this day" Tears? Sure. The timing was PERFECT. SIXTY YEARS seemed to melt as they began catching up on more details of their lives. He brought his baby bonnet for her to see. She held it and looked lovingly at it. She would remark over and over how Handsome he is. He looks so much like his mother! On learning he had laryngitis she fixed him some hot tea soon after we arrived. With honey. Lunchtime consisted of a well-planned menu which Sadie prepared. She said she had it all 'ready' by 10 a.m. It was covered and ready to pull from the fridge. The 3 of us sat at the table for lunch and enjoyed the chit chat. Once when she returned to the table, she wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned down and hugged him. I said, "Wait, Stay. It's a photo op" So, this is THAT photo! While seated on the sofa next to eachother, she hugged onto him and kept saying she didn't want him to 'go' - one time telling me I could go, but I must leave him there. (she was laughing) Sadie is a beautiful woman with 'peaches and cream' complexion. She said her Dr. says that about her skin. I know now where Howard gets that 'no wrinkle' complexion. No wonder he looks so young himself. Takes after mama.

God intended for them to meet one day; for Howard to "hear" those words Sadie shared so lovingly with him. That's GOD. Not chance. He did THIS very thing for both of them. "See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins." Is 49:16 {January 24, 2008}

Oh Jan, do I need to weep anymore? If I need to, I surely will, because as a mother who had her children taken many years ago, I know the feeling of "something missing", and no matter what the circumstances, the reunion is the sweetest thing that God can give us with the exception of the birth of that child!
What a lovely and meaningful photo. They are nearly twins!
God is go good! What a precious moment.
Thanks for sharing!
Love, Zee

What a picture. We are so thankful everything has turned out for the best. At least now Billy knows the "who" and "why" and I know that makes a big difference to him and I am glad for him and for Sadie. What she must have gone through those long years ago when she had to give him up. What a blessing it is that she was able to reunite with him, to touch and feel his warmth and to know she allowed him to be the man he is through her self-sacrifice. Doesn't God work in wonderful mysterous ways. I know Bill needed answers and hopefully he has found those and is more at peace. He looks so content in the picture with Sadie and boy do they look alike. We are so pleased for Howard and Sadie and we hope this relation just grows as time is so short. Praise God.
We love you all.

He sure does look like his mom! Just can't stop smiling and tears are pouring...I keep thinking of Sadie all these years...not holding her son...Does Sadie know Him? When will she come down for a visit? Love to all, Lauren

Howard, we are so happy for you. God is good! I now see where you got your good looks. The kids just left after coming by to visit. Getting that last little bit of sugar from our newest grandbaby makes me realize how hard it must have been for your momma when she thought she was holding you for the last time. How awesome that you have been reunited. Praise the Lord!

Howard and Jan.. I am SO thrilled that this has been such a happy reunion. I was so fortunate to have been a part of this. I'm thankful that I was able to find enough info to put it all together. Have a wonderful life!

Wow! This is so exciting! I am so happy for Howie and his mom! They look so happy and such a picture of peace! How awkward it could be , but there's no doubt this was brought about by our loving Father! Without Him it could have been a much different picture, for sure!
Thanks for sharing this story with all of us!

That is the sweetest picture...the expressions on each face show such gladness and contentment...Howard and Sadie look very "at ease" and comfortable with each other. It is truly a miracle and gift from God. May their hearts be ever grateful to the Lord God for bringing them together. I look forward to hearing about the ripple effect of this happy day...it will surely touch members of both of their families. God has begun a good work, and He will complete it because of His lovingkindness towards His children.
