John with camera - low key edit

John with camera - low key edit

my house in the suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia

My friend Andre A and I got together to experiment with some lighting for a low key portrait I needed of myself with my camera for an upcoming job at the Australian Independent Dirt Kart Association National Titles in Bordertown, South Australia. We used Andre's Nikon D200 for the shot, with lighting provided by my Canon flashguns manually triggered remotely using my ST-E2 Speedlite Transmitter.

The low shutter speed (1/2 sec) was to allow time to manually trigger my Canon flashguns using my STE2 Speedlite Transmitter after my friend pressed the shutter release button on his Nikon D200. As it was fairly dark, the long exposure wasn't a problem for lighting.
Cheers, John

The shutter speed surpises me. Do you think that's normal for the lighting setup?
Nice shot btw
