The white ohia haole lehua is uncommon. The red variety is used extensively in landscaping.

I agree my naming of this flower is incorrect and I stand corrected on that pint. I did NOT claim this to be a native Hawaiian plant. In fact if you looked at my link cited in the caption (http://www.pbase.com/selvin/image/14010972 ) you will note that I mention that the red variety is often confused with the true native red Ohia Lehua.
