Urquhart Castle

Urquhart Castle, Lochness, Scotland.

The problem with Urquhart Castle is it's own popularity. It is phenomenally difficult to get an atmospheric shot of it due to the external clutter of noticeboards and railings. Even in twilight these manmade blemishes are all too obvious the only solution I have found is to wait until it is truly pitch black. I took this shot on a horrible wet winter night with heavy clouds - no moonlight with a steady drizzle falling. No visitors and no ambient light to reveal clutter, just remarkably good artificial lighting used to good effect to reveal the castle's best features.

NEW!! Photographic Holidays at TRANSIENT LIGHT.
