Possessed by art

I'm like a woman possessed! On Thursday we finally got a couple hours of sun, so what did I do? I took my camera and searched every inch of my house to find patches of sunlight on walls, floors, curtains, tables, even on my former neighbor's alabaster sculpture and my collection of Great Lakes stones in the upstairs front room. But the search paid off! I have just added seven new images, including this one, to my "Edward Hopper visits my home" gallery. CLICK HERE to see them.

I wonder how long this obsession with light and shadow will last? It's showing no signs of diminishment. If anything, it seems to be getting stronger. They should post a warning on digital SLR cameras: "This device may take over your life."

You say that like it's a bad thing! Sounds like a treasure hunt to me. I like the light on the upside down magazine - observed and visible in parts. The lighting on the jar is particularly good with a partial reflection.

LOL That would be an excellent warning on all cameras! This wonderful photo with the printed page makes me wonder though, what is more seductive? Images or words?

Isn't photography all about the capture of light? Your search of light is right on the money. That what I do too, unforturnately only sometimes. Anyway, I really enjoy your work. Excellent work. Keep them coming. This image is a work of art to say the least. v

It is a wonderful obsession to have, Patricia. It will give you a new pair of eyes and open a new section of your brain. This is an exquisite example of spot metering. The slashes of light and shadow on the open book speak of the passage of time, and express a metaphorical equivalent of mankind's continual search for knowledge.
