In August of '93 the mountain hamlet of Miletici was attacked by a gang from Zenica. Five local citizens were murdered. The attack was reportedly a reaction by Muslims to the Croatian killing of over 100 muslims in the Lasva Valley settlement called Ahmici. When the band of 20 raiders approached an elderly Muslim went out to meet them, to tell them that there were no soldiers in the little village and that Croats and Muslims were living peacefully together as they always had. The raiders killed the man and entered the village. There they murdered four Croatian men in the most savage fashion. This couple was not bothered by the raiders. They wore very old fashioned Croatian clothes and lived a simple life without modern inventions. The man had seen the world and switched easily between Croatian, French, English, and German. Both of them talked at the same time without regard for what the other was saying. The man recognized the raiders: "Some of Tito's Arabs." They had come to study metallurgy in Zenica some 20 years earlier, and never left.
