Casares

Casares, Andalucia, Spain.

This is a very well known white hill town so typical of Southern Spain and Andalucia. The white buildings spill over steep hillsides every house overlapping their neighbours looking like the guano of some giant bird nesting on the edge of a cliff. The towns are almost always topped by an old church and the streets are inevitably steep and cobbled. I adore them and took every opportunity to photograph them both in mediterranean sunshine and later on in the softer ambient twilight.

Fantastic... what a view. The sprawl of whitewashed walls and clay tiled roofs across the mountain as if they were parcels spilled from a basket...the castillo and church tower upon the crown of the summit...and the wind turbines on the distant hill letting us know this is a modern "greener" Spain.(no pun intended)
