wire womon at the window

The word "womon" is not a misspelling; it is how some lesbian/feminists identify themselves. I bought this wire womon a number of years ago in what is known as The Line at the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival. The Line was a 4.8 km/3 mile-long line of cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles stretched out for 3-4 days on a dirt county road in Western Michigan. That is, until 2005 when the Sheriff's department disallowed this pre-festival event because of safety concerns. Womyn--again, not a misspelling--would camp out in the woods beside this road or sleep in their vehicles. Some would cook gourmet meals on their camp stoves, often sharing their food with whomever walked by. There would be constant foot travel as womyn and their children would walk The Line from start to finish visiting with old friends and making new ones. There would be singing, s'mores, card games, selling of handmade crafts like my wire womon, and lots of catching up between old festi-friends. All this was in preparation for the Front Gate of the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival's 263 hectare/650 acres of land to open at 1 p.m. on the second Monday of every August, marking the start of yet another weeklong festival of music, camping, workshops, an Artists/Craftwomyns' Bazaar, vegetarian meals cooked over open-pit fires, and every aspect of life that one could imagine. A true Womyn's World created every August since 1976 by and for thousands of womyn and their children from around the world. To see the photos I took at the MWMF this year, CLICK HERE.

This is a great image, celebrating womyn, the cycles of life and the seasons all together. Nice work!

An uncommon way of showing fall foliage! Perfect exposure.

I notice this picture was taken with your new Canon. Great backgound enhancing the wire womon. V

This 'may-an' likes the image made by a womyn, of the wire womon. ;-) Very eyecatching, although the grass skirt is a tad skimpy for general exhibition. An educational (for me) story, Patricia, and your beautifully descriptive words make your excellent picture even better. Top drawer.

Nice symbol, excellent setting against these wonderful background and as always I really love your stories behind Patricia!

Well abstracted by vantage point, Patricia -- and your softly focused background layer of golden leaves enhances its gesture of grace and beauty.

I love it. I particularly adore the presence of the window and the effect it has on the outdoors view. plenty of color subtlety and harmony.

Lovely silhouette of a figure joyously celebrating her "womoness."
