At this point I've cut the sleeper off and filled in the opening with sheet styrene. The holes for the removed detail parts would get filled with bits of sprue heated over a candle and stretched into cone shapes. These bits of sprue are easy to fit snug into the round holes and trim flush with the body. Once they are trimmed they make good attachment points for new plastic, resin or etched metal detail parts.
