Toad In The Hole

I suspect I'll look this grumpy tomorrow as it's my first day back at work for 2 1/2 weeks!!!!

We went Columbine Open Space after the weather cleared. While walking this little chap was obviously
disturbed from the shallow hole he was hiding in. It was curious to see that at a short distance he
was happy to try to hop away but if you got too close he became almost 'catatonic' which allowed me
to get a lot closer. His eyes were normally wide, but as in this shot they narrowed whilst 'catatonic'.
I believe it's a small Great Plains Toad.
For an idea of scale I could fit him on a dollar coin!!!

Nice capture. He was probably happy the recent rain
let him out of hole.
