Like many cities, Berlin has its painted fiberglass animals on parade for charity purpose. The United Buddy Bear project started in 2001.

This particular bear is designed by Ernest G. Reuter & Marjan Kekec-Ogradni. It is called Alex 35 in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of its sponsor, the Fernsehturm TV Tower, which is located at the Alexanderplatz.

The Canadian cities of Vancouver and Victoria had their Orcas in the City parade.
