Musicians and supporters of the Sweet Chariot Music Festival navigate the harbor on Swan's Island aboard the cutter Penrose to promote the festival, an annual event on the island accessible only to the islanders and boaters. This pre-festival event is a lot like caroling, except with sea chanties instead of carols and a sloop instead of galoshes. The festival itself is held in the Grange Hall on the island, a mile or two from the harbor.
