This beautiful sepia shot is attributed to John B Green around 1854. Green and Francis Frith set the scene for what has become vital historical photograhic record. As the Sphinx had been restored much has been assumed about how it looked in far antiquity. Look at the modern restoration under the Head Dress and of course the removal of the driven sand over burden.
