The day before I took this photo there were hundreds of curlers from all over New Zealand competing in this years bonspiel,playing in -10deg temperatures.This the first time in the last six years the ice has been thick and safe enough for the sport,the ice was about 25cm thick this year.The beauty of the countryside was enhanced by hoar frost hanging onto vegetation and fences.
