Action on the bridge

view map

A Union Pacific switching crew was shuffling auto racks around. The locomotives pulled a string of those freight cars from right to left, stopped for a while, and backed up. I started the exposure while the train was stationary and continued as it moved out of the scene. As the locomotive backed up over the bridge, its headlights illuminated the structure. I tried in vain to erase the power lines at upper left.

This shot looks northeast and was taken from the
Interurban Trail in Kent, Washington.
Ralph Tripod, my heavy-duty photographic assistant,
was as still as the night for this shot.

outstanding shot - I like the power lines - it gives it a very lonesome feel to it... I'm glad you left them in - V

Very cool, Dave. Few people have lived to post a picture of the Ghost Train. Have you retired Joe like you're planning to do with the Blue Wagon?

Ghost(ly) train...this is really great. I don't think the power lines are fatal, but it would be interesting to see it without. Hope Joe enjoyed his night off...lying around no doubt.
