Challenge: Glass

Home, Dining Room

12.5 years ago, when Scott and I got married, one (of many) things that I was very firm on was that Old Country Roses was going to be our china pattern. The lady at the registry gave me a very concerned look when I told her this. After a moment's pause she said, "Are you sure this is what you want? Most of our younger brides choose something a little less, well. . .a little simpler." I very firmly replied that I was sure and have yet to regret my decision. I also wanted pretty cut crystal glasses, but Scott thought that these delicate crystal glasses complimented the china pattern. As I hadn't given him very much say in anything else, I thought it fair to go with his choice of crystal. They are now proudly displayed in the 1940s china cabinet that we got eight years ago at an antique store.

I am sure that this image is not terribly unique. I had fun trying to get the shot and avoid reflection in the glass. All in all, I think I did pretty well. It's not quite what I originally had in mind, but it works for the challenge. Other participating pictures can be found in the Thursday Challenge Forum

I agree with Dave...you should send that registry lady this photo. It looks lovely in there Dana.

This shot proves that the lady at the registry's concern was misguided.
Nicely composed and exposed.

Good exposure and just about the right amount of reflection.

How lovely to peep into your china cabinet.

You caught it very well. Nice framing with the doors of the cabinet in front. I like it.

Well captured. I'm sure Scott will give up his right to the choice of glass for a new lens or three!

Hooray for wedding china and crystal! Stole my idea.. hope you don't mind but I was also going to use ours. I love Old Country Roses and the first time I was ever at your home, I noticed your collection right off as one of the classic patterns I have always admired. They are very you!
