Crews began removing the over 150 boats and yatchs that remain piled on top of one another at the bottom of the harbor where tidal surge of Katrina sent them crashing onto one another. Very few of them can be salvaged.
The name on this boat belies its demise.
There is extensive work in this job. Divers are required to go into the water and attach the cables to the boat etc. There are tons of other debris at the bottom of the harbor from Katrina, entire restaurants that were near the marina and anything else that the tide carried with it. It is a hazardous and laborious task.
