This is an extraordinary animal. I'm 5'8" in my boots. But the
top of his shoulder was another 12" and more. When he lifted
his head, he towered over me. And yet so gentle. And
so very, very soft, his fur. Softer than a child's
teddybear---soft like the thickest velvet plush. He's
an aristocrat at the equine center. He does get stabled
at night, but he will only walk half way across the long
field to meet his attendant. Then he waits patiently for
her to come the rest of the way to meet him. He lowers his
great head so she can slip on the thick, soft halter and lead.
Together they walk at a gentle pace back to the barn, a quarter
mile away. When the attendant slipped in the icy field, there
was no worry. She could reach out and grab hold of the
furry mountain walking by her side. I doubt that even if
she fell with her full weight against him, he would neither
notice nor break stride. It was very moving to watch.
