What a powerful image! The expressions on the faces of these men sear through me. The composition is superb, allowing us to wonder where they are and where they 're going.

They're wondering..."Is she going to ask us to sign a photo release
when we get to our stop?"
JD 07-Feb-2007 04:52
In a sense, this is a continuation of your Taj Mahal series, playing with shape and symmetry, with the morphing of time on the human body.
Why are they leaning outside like this? To catch a bit of wind because the temperature is too high, or because the train stopped for an unknown reason that they are trying to figure out? Either way, there is some kind of anxiety on their faces.
Technically excellent, in terms of DOF, composition & contrast.
Another jewel in this gallery.

Galiina makes an excellent point here, Ai Li -- the curves in the two rails echo the curves in the two shoulders perfectly, an illusion that suggests these men are in clattering motion. This functional composition organizes and stresses the metaphorical content I mentioned in my earlier comment.

This is outstanding. They have the same expression and their faces tell a story. Wow! V
Phil Douglis 06-Feb-2007 19:48
You once again use abstraction here to simplify and dramatize your point: the nature of life as a journey. The two men could be a metaphor for the unknowns that may lie ahead on this journey. The man in front is half hidden by the train window, and partially obscures the man behind him. They seem to be bit unsure of what is about to happen. They ride the rails here, but with a slight degree of hestitancy that stimulates our imaginations.
Rob Rosetti 06-Feb-2007 19:45

David Grundy 06-Feb-2007 16:29
Interesting shot, and the angle - which must also have been from a train window, I guess - makes it very immediate. The difference between the two faces adds another interesting element. Overall, I like this very much.
