I tried very hard to ensure that the distant Scots pine had an uninterrupted outline against the leaden sky hanging over Aviemore but it was impossible. This was my best composition and I was delighted when a shaft of transient light played over the far hills providing a lift from the sombre grey colours and further emphasising the outline of the pine.
