Hothouse Flowers

I stopped by the Arboretum and greenhouse today to test out my new 50mm lens. I like the 3-D effect
this lens gives. I found I get the best quality stopped down a little from full aperture. Wide open
does give a very dreamy effect though, which will come in handy.

It looks like your technique is to angle the shot to place a wide front of the subject inside the thin DOF. I'll use the 35mm f/1.4 for tomorrow's pad, and try to get a similar crisp edge on a dreamy environment. And another thing in this style that I imagine to work well; complementary colors in the background...the color wheel.
