Knolls, Utah (Interstate 80, Exit 41) view map

At Knolls, Utah (I-80 Exit 41), is a memorial to Frank M. Peasnall, senior, who served in the Air Force. It sits on a long, narrow mud flat situated between the eastbound lanes of I-80 and the old highway, now an unmaintained road leading to a recreation area for off-highway vehicles (dune buggies and the like).

I first noticed and photographed the memorial during my Utah trip of October 2006. At that time its inscription was easy to read: "In memory of Frank M. Peasnall, 1935-69. USAF." Subsequent photos document the memorial’s sad deterioration due to weathering and lack of upkeep.

This view is eastward.

The only info I could find on the internet about Frank M Peasnall....

Frank Marvin Peasnall was born 11/15/1935 in Grantsville, UT, and died 02/27/1969 in Danneville (Salt Flats), UT. He married on 12/14/1960 and had 2 children, Theresa Jean Peasnall on 08/12/1963 in Chamerlain, Buffalo County, SD, and Frank Marvin Peasnall Jr on 01/06/1969 in Toole, UT.

Did not find how he died.
