Backlit Birches

Loch Achilt, Contin, Scotland.

Birch trees at the edge of Loch Achilt are backlit by a setting sun. The reflected light and the sparkle of the frosty trees as the sun refracts through them cause the colours to become even more beautifully rendered with violet skies and snow, amber fringing on the densely packed bushes and a blue tone from the overhead clear sky being picked up in the shadow areas of the snow.
