Cygnus Nebulae in White Light and Narrowband

Shab Tombs, Oman

This is an animation showing captures in white light through a UV/IR Blocking filter and then through the same filter + an Astronomik UHC filter. The latter combo passes 2x40nm bands, one around H-beta and OIII in Blue/Green, the other band around H-alpha and SII in Red. Click "original" below right if you cannot see the animation. This is a very rich starfield in the plane of the Milky Way and the stars tend to overwhelm the nebulosity unless one processes the images in a strongly manipulative way, basically emphasising reds. The UHC filter makes the nebulae very prominent. Taken at a very dark site, Mag 21.6/sq arc-sec using the Kenko Skymemo mount, unguided.
