The lair of the fish head gang

Tunnel road, near Gornji Vakuf

There was a group of hillbillies who would stop cars on the tunnel road and rob the occupants, usually keeping the car as well. They were found near a trout farm so Dave Brauchli of the AP named them the Fish Head Gang and the name stuck. Even the UN referred to them as the fish heads. They became a real problem on this critical road into central Bosnia, which ran between Gornji Vakuf and Travnik. Cars would travel only in convoys, and even big humanitarian aid trucks were hijacked. Finally the Brits sent tanks and soldiers in APCs to deal with the problem. But it wasn't finally solved until the Bosnian Army was asked to intervene, which they did.

Good to see a Scimiter managed to get so far up Diamomd! There was a wager that OC Recce would not get his entire fleet out the front gate working; he managed it about half way through the tour and by about 200m!
