Oh goodness! This looks just like our Ivy! The lady who owned the rescue didn't know the exact breeds she was, but she was pretty sure one was Aussie. Ivy has a short tail, and medium fur, and head markings JUST LIKE THIS PUP! She has a funny yin-yang pattern on her chest, too. Completely black and white. Because of her coloring and relatively small size, my hubby and I have concluded that she's probably part boarder collie as well. This pic just cemented our hunch. Thanks for such a lovely picture! ^_^

I also had the honor of saying, I also was the owner of this most extra ordinary breed. After a" short" 13 years, (in December of 2009) my dear Mandy passed away. She was my husband's right hand girl. . . We miss you every day, little girl.

Sadly I just had to put to sleep my Border Collie Australian Shepherd. We had her one year to the day. She was only 6 years old. Got her from a shelter and never thought it would only be one year with her. She was the best dog for this household. She fit into our needs perfectly. Want to find this type of dog again. She was taken from us way to soon. We miss her so much.
ht
Anybody know of a dog like this needing a loving home (in the Long Island NY area) please let me know.

My heart and best wishes go out to those who have lost, or are searching for, these remarkable dogs. They are truly a breed apart.

P.S....On My Lost dog...Aussie below...her furr is short and tail is black with white furr on the end of it. She also has some black on her belly side.

She could have been found anywhere. We had just moved back to Texas from Washington State, when someone left our gate opened. She did have on "VETS FOR LESS" Washington State tage with a choker chain collar on her. The tag may have come off. She did not know this area, even thou she was adopted with her brother at "The Waxahachie Pound"

Please watch for her or if you found her contact us. REWARD!!!!!!!!!She looks like this dog in the picture...she is part border collie and australian sheppard.

THANKS ALOT

My girl "Aussie" looked like this dog above. She is MISSING from Waxahachie, tx, now since 10-15-2009. She has a single "white" spot on back side of her black furr towards her tail. She has s "soft spot" traingular shape on her belly side. Brown speck I believe inside corner of right eye. She is 7 years old and spayed, name is "Aussie". She looks like the dog above with black specks on her white furr, due to aging. She is VERY beautiful and timid with strangers. Loves to play ball and suck on teddy bears. Please, we miss her and love her. Her brother "Oreo" is lost without his sister as we are.

I am trying to find a home for 10 month old Border Collie, Australian Shepard mix that we rescued from a shelter a few weeks ago. She is the sweetest dog and so smart. She is outgoing and would be great in a home with kids or male dogs. We are currently doing obedience training with her and she is learning quickly. Please call me at 512-743-6103 or email me at flyntsusan@aol.com if you are interested. We live in Texas and want to find Sadie a home where she will be part of the family.

So many stories like mine. I had a Border Mix who was black and white and everyone loved that dog. Don't know how many times people asked if they could keep my dog! We are still all mourning her (finally lost to transitional cell carcinoma). The Vet was as brokenhearted as I was to put her down. She was stoic to the end and never whined once in her entire life. Used to run into all the Vet's offices and wag her tail and greet everyone. I just adopted a Border/Aussie mix and today was his first day in his new home.

Hi Destiny et al,

I found an Aussie black tri male who works sheep and goats that mated with a heeler/border collie mom that's really smart and good with kids. The pups will be ready in 3-4 weeks. They're in Texas and I'm in Colorado/Western Slope. Let me know if anyone is interested. Michael_D_Bachman@hotmail.com

Cheers

Our Aussie-Border "Sharpie" is now 20 months old, and looks just like the 1st picture. We were able to find her when we heard of a litter available whose birth-mother had died after giving birth.
We have had a couple of Border mixes before (Border/Lab, Border/Samoyed), as well as a full Aussie...Sharpie is great! She has a short-ish, sleek coat and upright fold-over ears. Kind of on the small side, perfect for indoors, and big enough to run our five acres. She is very communicative --- expresses herself and understands our expressions. Loves everybody. Remarkable that these two breeds are so distinct in heritage but so alike...and mix so well.

I have a Border Collie/Australian Mix... I rescued him from a puppy mill in June (he was 8 weeks old then), his name is Sir Nieko II ... his name-sake was from a puppy (similar breeds) that I rescued last Christmas. Nieko I was only 8 weeks old I had him for 1 week and he died in my arms, he had the parvo virus:( Prior, I had the best Border Collie/German Shepard mix, named Butchy. He was the BEST! Got my slippers, opened and closed the fridge, dove off diving boards, walked our 5 acres, no leash...... he was incredible! It took me almost two years to finally get another puppy, then Nieko the first died! Man!!!! It took me six months to morn him to finally go for it, now we have Sir Nieko II! Now, heartbreaking, my mom died suddenly in 2000> she had a poodle named Tobie, I have had Tobie since momma died, he was Butchy's side kick, best friends! Tobie was sad, very sad, when Butchy died (2007). He was one reason that I wanted to get a companion for him, hence Nieko I! Now Sir Nieko II and Tobie became "Bud's" .. well, after 4 months together, Tobie died suddenly (heart attack) 2 weeks ago TODAY >>> OUCH!! I'm heartbroken, just Thank God for Sir Nieko II. I'm sorry for all of you who lost your "kid's" too. I have to believe that we'll meet again on Rainbow Bridge when it's my time. I can only hope that my mom & brother are with Butch & Tobie.............

Hey, this is our dog, too. We adopted him from a shelter in a tiny town in Wayne National Forest - thus hit name "Wayne". He is the smartest dog we have ever had! He acts like a human, even sits upright on the sofa with his paw on your shoulder.
Carol 26-Aug-2009 17:27
We lost our dog on June 13, 2009. He was 11 years old and looked very much like the black and white dog that you are showing. We would love to find another dog like this.
Our dog was austrailian shepherd & lab mix. This dog was the smartest, sweetest dog and
we are lost without him. We would love to find another Austrailian shepherd mix dog.

I have 2 Aussi/COllie mixes, they are brothers. I can't imagine my life without them. They are most amazing dogs I have ever come across, and Im not saying it because they are mine. They are VERY intelligent, pretty much understand EVERYTHING we say to them, and absolutely LOVE and ADORE my family. Im going to enjoy them in my life as long as I can, they are practically my babies. I love them.
John 22-Apr-2009 07:14
We have had Bobby for 5 years now. Got him from our local pound at 12 months old. What can I say. He is both the smartest and the silliest dog we have ever had. Loves life to the full. Can go from 100mph to 0 in a millisecond and back again. Loves cats & lets our daughter's cat beat him up when the cat comes to stay. If anyone wants a small video, I'll upload it somewhere. Only time he gets upset is when we take too long to get ready for his walk.

My boyfriend has always had dogs and FINALLY convinced me (a cat lover who has never owned a dog in her life) to get a 4 month old aussie/border mix from a shelter. I LOOOOVE her. We have only had her a week and I can't believe how smart she is & how good she is with my cats. She has already learned to lay down when the cats are close and lets them investigate her. I think they are going to be the best of friends. She is keeping us in good shape with all of he exercise! We can't wait to start teaching her some tricks after she is fully housebroke. (1 week & she is almost there; unbelievable!)
Michael 12-Feb-2009 04:25
I have the most lovable good spirited aussie/collie mix from a farm in gunnison county by Crested Butte, CO. Makes you love life just a little bit more :)
Guest 29-Jan-2009 23:48
The cutest, smartest, and most loyal dog. Mine is great with all people, cats, other dogs, and around horses. I take her to work with me everyday as she would rather be with me then left at home alone. Only problem is some kind of an allergy. She chews the hair off her backend which made me think fleas, but someone else said she knew Border Collies with food allergies such as to corn. Someone else suggested a wheat allergy. Anyone else have this problem? Otherwise I absolutely love her. I couldn't decide between getting an Aussie or a Border Collie but have found I now have the best of both worlds!
Susannah 18-Jan-2009 18:43
I have an Aussie/Border Collie mix - picked her up at a shelter. She picked me - there wasn't a chance that she was going to let me leave without her! From the first moment I had her she was perfectly well-behaved, incredibly smart, 100% trained and a joy to be with. Seems to know when I am sick or sad and won't leave my side when I am. She is my best friend. Had to be sent from above!

It was named the best dog park in the nation recently and its 10 mins from where we live...a onderful dog!
nicole 07-Dec-2008 01:15

Becca 13-Nov-2008 02:02
I got a border collie/aussie mix, Daisy, from my husband's (at the time, boyfriend) next door neighbor, and she is the BEST dog! She's so loyal and smart! She's funny as she will "fetch" the ball, but won't actually give it back to you. She'll just tease you with it..put it close to your hand then run away with it! She still chews on EVERYTHING. We've gone through 3 grill covers, 2 kiddie pools, and numerous faucet covers. But she's only 1 1/2 years old, so I still consider her a puppy. She also love hotdogs, but with a piece of cheese around it! haha!!
DJ 09-Nov-2008 17:15
I also adopted a border/aussie mix in May from the local shelter. She is amazing! She is extremely smart, loyal and so well trained (came that way) that I had 5 people offer to take her from me in the first month! We still can't figure out why the people didn't want her! One thing that you MUST keep in mind when adopting this breed... they need to be active and exersized a lot!!! We take her out to play and walk usually about 4 X a day! if you are willing to put in this much time they are hands down the best dogs ever!!!!
Cassandria 01-Nov-2008 23:32
WHY IS MY AUSSIE COLLIE AFRAID OF THE LEASH? AND REALLY HATES THE COLLAR. HE STIFFENS UP AT 3 MONTHS WITH THESE
Guest 14-Oct-2008 18:47
Considering gettin one of these dogs, but wondering how they are with cats. Also had a dog with collie & husky that I had to get rid of because it killed another very small dog and would kill a raccoon , or other small animal in a heart beat (would not bother the cats, but loved to chase other animals).
JILL 12-Oct-2008 04:45
Be prepared...flea allergys on this mix of dogs. Mainly, my male dog. You can get special shampoo from the vet and its not that much.IF YOU SEE RED BUMPS OR SEVERE ITCHING..Your dog is allergic to fleas. Something you need to watch for. Otherwise easy and very loyal and fun dogs. They need to play and love attention and Very SMART DOGS. THEY LOVE HOTDOGS,LOL.
Lauren 06-Oct-2008 02:08
The Lexington Humane society has a litter of this breed that are 10 weeks old. We just adopted one of the girls, Lucy and she is awesome so far! We live in an apartment and leave those blue and white pee pads around just in case(she's not potty trained yet) and she has always went on those and outside. she's so smart.

I also have an Aussie/ Border collie mix, Boots. I rescued him from a kill shelter about 1.5 years ago and he's just amazing. No training necessary. He's soooo smart and loyal and loving. He's completely obsessed with fetching a tennis ball and could do it all day long if you let him. If you're thinking about getting one, GO FOR IT!!
jilly mckeown 17-Jun-2008 16:27
ps. If you live in a apt. these dogs will do fine. You just have to give them attention and have toys for them. The first 6 mth was the hardest and then they were fine in the apt. They do love to sleep with us and they act like children, lol. They tell us when it is time for bed, lol. They do need alot of toys and play. They love ropes and pull chew toys like pic above. They love water and car rides. My female is more aggressive than my male. She barks alot at people with her tail wagging. If you have the time you can train these dogs for any trick. They are VERY loyal and adore children. I have had ALOT of dogs in my life and when these are gone i will buy 2 more. They also love hot dogs as treats and bones.Wherever we go we get comments on how beautiful our babies are. You won't go wrong with these dogs. But make sure you play with them and keep mind stimulated and have patience the first year. My female hated leashes at first too, but she quickly learned to walk with one.The worse thing they did as puppys when we were gone was chew a few things. But what dog doesn't as puppys? Great dogs for Kids. I always try to adopt from shelters, best dogs you will ever find there. :)
jill 15-Jun-2008 01:05
I have 2 of these dogs, a brother and a sister, 4 yrs old. Omg, the girl looks just like this picture. She is the smartest of the 2. I live in an apt and they do great in it. It is a good size one. But we also play with them alot and take them for car rides and to the beach. They are VERY loyal and love children. My girl "aussie" loves to suck on teddy bears, like her moms nipple. I do have problems with themale and dry skin. But their coats are very different. His is more wirey and longer and her is shiny and silky.

The best dogs I have ever owned and they came from a "shelter" in Dallas, before I moved to Washington.
Sue 27-Apr-2008 12:05
I,also am the proud owner of a border/ausie mix, super sweet,my Elsie has a love affair going on with her "kong toy,"that is her baby,if it comes up missing,a frantic search ensues, till it is located and then all is well again!

My son and girlfriend have a dog that looks just like this. She is a 1 yr old and is very smart. Unfortunately they had to move into a small apartment since she is expecting and can't keep her. We (just tonight) took her to a new home where she can run and play and has another dog for company. My son cried. Tipsi is so smart and she will be very missed ! Syl

I just have to jump in here. I also have a Border Collie Austrailian Shephed Mix. I got him about 11 years ago from the Humane Society. I luv my dog. He like all of yours, intelligent, loyal, loving. However the reality of his age is setting in. He has a hard time standing up. The vet gave me glucosamine and chondritin to give him and it helps a bit. Anyway. It is difficult to see my best pal grow old. Ciao
Kathy & Dennis 29-Feb-2008 03:35
We had a border collie/aussie for over 6 years. Her name was Spooky as she was born on Halloween 2001. She was the best smartest dog I think we have ever had. Had no real training but you wouldn't know it. Her best friend was a frisbie besides us. She passed away last December of heart problems. We sure do miss her and are looking for another just like her. She looked just like the picture. I will see her at Rainbow Bridge.

Hey, that's my dog! Well, they could be twins anyway. Did this one have spots like a dalmation on the back? Ready, our boy, does. We got him from a pound when he was 5 months. Being our first dog, he is setting super-high expectations for pups to follow!

I am looking to buy one of these AWESOME dogs. Does anyone know of a breeder in the DFW,TX area?
Tony 01-Oct-2007 16:08
We recently brought home a Border Collie Australian Shepherd Mix from an Animal Rescue Coalition. She has such character and is a delight to be around. The only issue we have so far is trying to keep her off the coach, but that will come with time.
Debra 30-Aug-2007 03:48
I have the same question as Rodd. This mixed breed is so amazing. It is almost like they are human. Our dog passed away some time ago and we have been searching for the same breed,he was originally a rescue dog as well.If you have information on where to adopt this breed please e-mail me.
