heh, :-) ... this is after the initial 'smoke and mirrors' chaos of the Origin?? ... when finally the ideas coalesed into tangible form? ... and Spirit grappled with the discovery of being in human form!?? ... the gold characters look lovely, Jen ... that is a really wonderful display. Mute, but also musical. I often think of the Chinese language as a kind of musical note with all it's tones and interesting characters...there is something about the past and primieval here, as if there is a code or message and that society is missing it...but most of all I like the disorientation. ****What makes this image stand out is its originality, Jen. The gilded letters suggest knowledge, yet the people are oblivious to it. The reflected hand reaches out to touch (twice), a gesture of contact and learning. They can't read these golden words from the past. The letters are glittering form, but to these eyes, empty of content. A mute past, indeed.
