Too bad that close up there are tiles missing
with names which were inscribed.
Sad that it's in disrepair.

I agree with papajim that the restoration was nicely done. But why didn't the restorers return the structure to a vertical alignment?

Beautiful tower. It reminds me of the University of Texas Tower and Charles Whitman---I always try to see the postitive aspect of things.
