NGC6820 (nebula) & NGC6823 (open cluster) in Vulpecula

Skunk Hollow Observatory

NGC 6820 & NGC 6823. Most of this area has a light red hue due to the nebula. The column of gas in the middle of the image is very faint. To me it looks like a cross between the M16 and the Cone Nebula... at least up close. Shot using a Meade LX200 10" at f/7.15 using a SBIG ST-2000XM with SBIG AO7 unit. 65 minutes (13 x 5 minutes) luminance at 1x1 binned. RGB 5:5:5 at 1x1 binned for each channel. Image scale is .85 arcseconds per pixel. Acquired using CCDOps. Aligned and combined in CCDSoft 5. Dark and light frames applied. DDP and LRGB combined applied in AstroArt 2.0. Adjusted in Adobe Photoshop using Astronomy Tools by Noel Carboni. Guided by the SBIG AO7 on GSC 2139:2069 at magnitude 9.8. Transparency was good.
