This is apparently some type of Tachinid fly. It was at least an inch long, so it's a big sucker. Really, really ugly too. Shot with my Sigma EM 140 DG. I also had a Canon 500D closeup attachment on the lens. A 100% crop of the same image follows @ http://www.pbase.com/image/64793584
