Now this series really has some interest...I like it much better now, Brent. I'm also glad that you didn't replace this last shot. All told, a really good job.

I like the colors and perspective of this shot the best! Yvonne

The muted colors and the moss on the vehicle and the fence adds the age nicely to this photo. Nothing is out of place here. -Cat

Thanks very much Rod. I switched out the first two that offer new perspectives and different light from this shot. Although I think my first series of images all stood better on their own, this group is more of an "exploration" of the subject that fits the task at hand better. So thanks to all who encouraged me to make some changes :-)
I think I'll probably leave these alone now so I can make some time to do some commenting on the gallery- if my significant other doesn't tell me to quit sitting in front of the computer so much!

It could be just the angle of the truck Brent. Look at the three thumbnails together & we can see the truck is on same angle in all three shots. It's not so much you need different lighting it's a different perspective needed for each shot. Just looking at this shot there're possibilities of shots just of the wheel arch & that square hole taken square on. The possibilities will open up as you compose. There're heaps of shots just on this side of the truck, the only hard part is getting three gooduns:-)

Thanks for even more feedback CJ! I went through all the shots I took and will probably post some alternates to make a better story whether that is a disadvantage for voting or not. I like your idea for a future challenge where the votes for all three entered are tallied up. I'm just happy for a compelling reason to jump off and shoot this cool old truck I've been eyeing from the bus for a while now :-)

Sometimes the problem is having 3 really nice shots which end up dividing the votes on your entries. It would be nice if the votes were either on the series as a whole or the winner would be determined by the total votes for ALL his/hers entries - but maybe that's a different challenge! Anyway, I like all your images Brent and am not really sure which I like best. :-) CJ

Thanks Rod, Mary Anne, and CJ for your much appreciated feedback. I’m having a hard time deciding what if any changes I should make with this series. I wish the voting was for the series as a whole rather than an individual shot. Currently I have my best three shots in my view (with some variance in perspective) that would hopefully all bide well on their own outside a series as technically and creatively decent.
I have other shots taken in morning and evening light (this van is on my bus route to work). Although these others would offer a different perspective they wouldn’t get any votes on their own- I came back on an overcast day to avoid the washed out glare these direct light shots all have. As far as shooting from a different angle goes; this van is crammed in a tight space with an ugly yellow contemporary truck next to it that totally ruins any comp. Your suggestion might be helpful CJ, as I almost made #2 a close-up shot anyway.
I guess I will let things soak for a while and decide what if anything I should change. It’s just a little frustrating because I’m not sure which of the three images I like best and offering lesser shots to offer a different perspective on the “money” shot means I will have to pick one as special. I’m torn! :-)

I like the rich colors in these Brent and it doesn't bother me about them having that same saturated look. I think it's having the same perspective on all the shots that makes the series have a sameness to it. If it's possible to go back and take a shot from a different angle or maybe get a really close shot of the grill or something like that, it would give the series more variety. (Although this could be said of almost all the entries!) All that being said, I really love the colors and the subject - lots of nice texture in the rusty old truck! :-) CJ

I love the colors in these, Brent, but I have to agree with Rod. Maybe what the series needs is one shot with some low angle light hitting the truck. These all seem to have been done on an overcast day, producing these rich saturated colors, but it also tends to give them a certain sameness, if you know what I mean.

I really like all three shots Brent but I think for added interest it would have been better if you made all three very different. We can see a common visual point in all three which does link them together but I think it makes them less interesting together. This one works best for me, well done mate:-)
