Windy at camp

The Goose Neck (near Moab, Utah)

By the time I was ready for my morning exploration, it had become breezy. The tent was not guyed to
the ground, so just to be safe, I put a rock in the tent as "hold-down" insurance to supplement the
weight of my sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and some miscellaneous items. When I returned to camp, the
tent had been shifted from its original position and was leaning slightly to one side. The wind got
stronger as I packed my gear for the descent. A gust of wind pushed the tent as seen here. Just after
this shot was taken, the wind blew the tent onto its side, then flipped it over. I had nightmarish
visions of the thing tumbling right over the nearby precipice. I added another rock, which kept the
tent from moving any further. Folding and packing the tent in the wind was a chore.

(The orginal text said nothing about the contents of the tent.
I revised the text to answer 1moremile's question.)

Thanks, Larry. It's nice to "have you along" on the trip.

You're pretty prepared for just about anything Dave. My hat is off to you and your travels.

You would have been homeless, Dave. What was in it that was heavy enough to secure it?
