Out the window
by Ron Crain

This is what I stare at while eating breakfast at the cabin.
This was taken literally out the window. I removed the screen and used the widest lens I have.
I had to save this at quality level 3 in photoshop in order to get the filesize down, hope the quality isn't impacted too much - but then, it's just a humdrum image anyway.

Why is this Humdrum? Because it never changes. No deer are ever seen here. Maybe a little bird now and then but that's all. All very humdrum.

Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
2s f/16.0 at 17.0mm iso100 full exif

The view out of your cabin window is beautiful.

I see no one has much sympathy and neither do I! but lovely shot--doesn't look too humdrum from where I'm sitting!

Yeah right, you just wanted an excuse to take a picture without actually having to go anywhere while being lazy at the cabin!! Good shot nonetheless.. makes me want to be up there.

Nice space. Do you ever shoot it during different lighting, or differtent times of day. etc? It would make a marvelous portfolio. Kinda like Matisse lily pads.

Yes, great shot - and I will take this humdrum any day!
If you want action - put out a bird feeder and attract some feather (and probably large furry) critters!

I would not mind a humdrum like that.. maybe if you put out some of food you'll see a black bear :)
I think it a nice shot..

We might often think something is humdrum when we look out the same window
day after day and see the same scene. And indeed, what we see might indeed just
be "same old, same old." But for a photographer, finding the extraordinary with
the ordinary is not so much about the subject matter, but rather how the momentary
lighting scuplts its appearance. And so most times the scene might indeed seem like
"same old, same old." But if we are observant, once in a while the momentary lighting
will make even the ordinary seemingly extraordinary.... And that's the moment to
reach for our camera.
