I found the hearts in this composition on a
shiny piece of poster paper at the nursing home.
The picture of my mother was taken in January.
Yesterday while my mother was having acute pain,
she asked me about dieing. "Do I have to die?" she asked.
"We all die some time, Mom," I said softly in the moment.
We talked about her spirit living although her body will die;
a home is being prepared for you, I said; she smiled.
"Has Jesus been talking with you about going home?" I asked.
Mom said, "I reckon."
I read from THE MESSAGE translation of the Bible ~
Hebrews 11-12; all of 1st John, and John 14-15.
Peace spread across Mom's face and brightened her blue eyes.
Today she said she didn't think she would be here for Christmas.
