Feral Kookaburra

Deloraine, Tasmania

There are many sad, pathetic folks out there who have their lives ruled by irrational fears, and one such fear is the fear of snakes. This fear of snakes prompted some group of Tasmanians (and West Australians) to introduce Laughing Kookaburras to help bring this serpentine scourge under control. Kookaburras also eat baby birds, lizards, insects and sausages cooking on the barbeque. Like the Lyrebird, this is an Australian animal that has been introduced to another part of the country where it doesn't belong.

wish they would come back to the park, I like to hear their call in the morning.
