Gales Tree.jpg

Taken on a bitterly cold day. Had to come down off the top of the mountain because I was Blue , the wind was strong and biting, swirling everywhere. Spotted this tree on the way down and timed the shot for when the leaves were blowing up.

A very nice shot Adrian, too bad it was so cold! Sometimes we have to suffer to get a good picture! I know about it with the hard winter we have here, the cold!!
Best regards
Guy

This is a difficult image to pull off, you have created a great image that's full of atmosphere, movement and the harshness of winter (I've never been able to get one this good). Excellent (gmv)

Great timing!
JD 25-Feb-2006 12:16
The tree, the light, the contrast, the composition, the treatment, all are perfect. And on top of that you have the leaves, that must have been very close to the camera, as you are using a 10mm. Excellent.
I think that you could have told us that this was quails who were scared by the shutter noise. First quails are very trendy right now in the US since they have caused a national event. And second that would made of you a very lucky brilliant photographer instead of a brilliant photographer ;-)

Guest 25-Feb-2006 06:31
The flying leaves gives a magical twist to an otherwise bare tree - so much so it was as if I could feel the wind from your photo. Excellent.
Guest 25-Feb-2006 06:01

Once in a lifetime shot Adrian, well done!
Lawrence Ripsher 25-Feb-2006 03:46
Adrian - this is quite literally incredible. I think this is my favourite shot of yours ever. Without the leaves it's an excellent shot. With them, it's like something out of this world. I recommend never shooting this tree again and just putting it down to a magical, unrepeatable moment. Absolutely love seeing work of this quality - makes my day. Huge vote man.
Coleen Perilloux Landry 25-Feb-2006 03:42
