The red ball at his throat
is what I think he was using
to make the low melodic drumming sounds,
like a didgeridoo,
to sound out his love song
to go with the love dance fan-tango.
.....................................
These wild turkeys were not shy
especially Mr Strut
It seemed to me that the more I focused on him
and the more Nikon clicks he was getting
the more he was strutting
He slowly danced to the top of the rock
from the shade below, up into the spotlight
There he held court while others came and joined in
and then passed on by. Ms Paris Cool Strut may appear
unenthusiastic, but she chose to walk the narrow strip
across in front of his nose rather than take the easy way
around behind the rock. As she did her stage exit right
while another female stepped onto the runway, Mr. strut
gave a very impassioned fanfare for the departing one
and the second one did a close up inspection of his rear.
Now I wonder whether some of the fanning is spreading a scent
Hmmm.... Hi Karate or Old Spice Gobbler perhaps.
After all had passed and gathered on the other side
two males and six females, they flew to the pasturelands below
A few minutes later, Mr. Strut flew off, too
