...back before "Big Bertha" had her own Gitzo tripod and Whimberley head


The "smaller" old tripod in the photo was set so low because there was a distinct danger of collapse under the weight of the 600mm lens. This went on for only a couple of weeks before Big Bertha got her own tripod set up that is heavy but necessary.
