Hi David!
This is really incredible compositionaly. Excellent textures as well. Very very nice! - Albert

Hi David, I agree with the others that the angles and the contrasts in textures really make this outstanding.

For me, the image is made by the contrast between the warmth of the wood and the cold of the landscape; the angles simply compliment. Other images posted clearly focus on the angles. This one, works well. Very nice.

Of course, if inside and in use, "warmth" would probably be the last word to describe. LVPG

Hi there Adrian....thanks a lot! And, for some reason, the image seems to be loading properly again, without my having to reload it. -- DF

G'day David - i really enjoy this comp - not so common, and a great foundation for the body of the image - gives it light?. Not used to seeing the subtle texture in the snow either - kudos. thanks for this, adrian

PS>> you may need to re-load this, as Pbase at this moment is not displaying the full size image.

I agree with what has been said before - great composition, the lines, textures etc - Quentin

I was thinking about what Flick said (cos I agreed with her) and the answer for me, I've decided, is that it has a great mix of hard, dynamic line and composition and soft, natural. almost fractal texture. It really is quite lovely, and a great way of enjoying snow in a voyeuristic way for those of us who live in a wet gray paper bag at this time of year!

Jono...around here we call them simply an "outhouse", or (depending on size) a "one holer". Gets a little chilly for the morning meditation in January, but I seem to manage. -- DF

It's those nice angles in the foreground which make it work for me.
Nice Shot David - is that your outside lavatory? ;-)
As for Mr Tumnus, if you see him, give him a good hard kick from me!
kind regards jono

Brilliant composition, really striking. The exposure on the snow is just right. I'm incredibly taken with this image but can't put my finger on quite why it's so effective.
I feel as if I just walked out of the back of a wardrobe (where's Mr Tumnus when you want him ;-)
Flick.
