Looking in vain for Thelma and Louise's spinning tires

Thelma and Louise Point on Shafer Trail, Utah view map

Looking east at me and the Colorado River, 400 feet below. The peak behind and to the right of me is Pyramid Butte. That chin strap saved my hat from being blown into the abyss behind me. Thanks to the young woman who took this picture.

The Thurnderbird did not jump off of the point. Several cameras were set up on Fossil Point (Thelma and Louise Point) to film the jump. The movie crew built a ramp on the cliff edge to give the Thunderbird some loft. The ramp was built slightly northeast of the point and removed after filming. To see the actual part of the cliff where the car jumped stand on the point and look north east. If you watch the BluRay in slow motion you can see the ramp. The special features section of the BluRay has the alternate ending showing the Thunderbird sailing through the air until it goes way down out of sight.

Is this the only photo of you wearing a genuine smile?

It's an excellent hat, but not cheap (US$ 65):http://www.tilley.com/ .

Glad to see you invested in a fine Canadian product when buying a hat Dave. If they were expensive before, what price they will be with a dollar at US$1.06 I shudder to think. But to commune on the sandstone with an inferior hat is to be guilty of lack of respect.

Yes Dave, they are all dead.

The hats are handsome, durable and hugely practical. They are very expensive in the UK and beyond the reach of all non-eccentrics. It dominates this otherwise impressive scene.

Larry, thank you! Eldar, your comment has damaged my fragile ego beyond repair.
