I had embedded a hmtl-link to my photo into my former message, but for some reason—unknown to me—it doesn’t show; so, here you go:http://www.pbase.com/bollag/image/52251305. I do like your image very much (though, maybe, the deliberately «unsharp» moving figure gets a bit lost in front of all those «sharper» spectators in the background??). Let’s continue to exchange our pictures on the same or similar subjects. You and I started with «Aya Sofia», years ago; do you remember? Thanks again for your way of hosting this challenge, Helen! — db.

Well, it surely made an impression on me -- made me want to attend on of these ceremonies, which I never had done in seven years in Turkey! It's here:http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/image/51821430/original Actually, I'd like to see yours again as well! Helen

Sometimes, Helen, you really make one blush ;-)) And, in addition, you have a good memory: my Whirling Dervishes are nearly five years old (and I don't think the image is as good as you say; it was shot with a compact digicam of an early generation, and I had little experience at the time). Can one see yours somewhere?

How odd; don't know how I missed this one, especially since it's the exact kind of photography I like to do myself. Beautiful light and perspective, and very striking subject. BTW long ago you posted a picture of a whirling dervish, which I had in mind when I went to a performance a few weeks ago. At first I was trying to shoot with a fast shutter speed then thought of yours and decided to do a long exposure to capture the motion instead. Yours is far better, but thank for the inspiration!
