Lockheed P-38J Lightning

NASM

Designed and built by Lockheed engineer Clarence "Kelly" Johnson and his team, this was the most successful twin engine fighter plane of WWII and my personal favorite. This particular plane has been left in "as is" condition by the museum with all the wartime wear time wear still visible. This was done at the request of the P-38 pilots consulted about the restoration of the aircraft.
