In the heat of the day

At mid-day in Etosha National Park during the dry season
the temperature is known to reach levels of over 130 degrees.
The water is very scarse and the very few water holes are far appart
are frequently crowded and guarded by predators. We came across
a group a Burchell's zebras on their way to a nearby water hole.
The heat of the hour was so intense that one can see it in the picture
as a form of "stem" in the background, however, the humidity in this area
is close to zero.
To avoid overheating and dehydration, the zebras will move very slow, but always
watching for predators; and always guided by the dominant male in front.
