This image was awarded "Editor's Choice" at the National Association of Nature Photographers of America" (NANPA) in June of 2007, and will be elegible for the 2007 , end of the year, grand prize award.

SPANISH: Springboks (Antidorcas marsupialis).

Hi Niall:
Thanks for your comment!
Actually, there are no added effects in this image or any of my images. This image is exactly as it came out of the camera and there area few others in this gallery with the similar effect and including some zebras. The reason for this is that this was a very dry and hot day at around 1 PM in the Namib desert (one of the hotest placed in the planet). The heat was so intense that there was some source of "Heat blur" in the air which made things appear very blurred, even at close distance (it is the same phenomenom like when one see a mirage in the desert). If you see some of the other pictures taken in the same area you could see in the horizon a very heavy "blur", like if you are looking through a defective glass. It is impossible to get a good "sharp" picture at those hours of the day, however, the effects you get proved to be very nice and artistic; in fact, this is one of my favorite pictures.
Thanks again for your comment.

Cesar Fernandez.

That's amazing. I love how you've fuzzed away the velt around them to make them seem as if they're walking into the unknown.

I am not a big fan of animal pictures - but ones like this are hard not to think are way beyound the boundaries of animal pictures. Your eye is exceptional in so many respects. Fred Parsons
