on a flower. At the UT Gardens again.
So I had my eyes examined. Yeah yeah I know some of you wish it was my head that should have been examined.
Anyway, in years past they would numb the eye, with a drop of "cain" and use a "tonal pen" I call it a piston and this pen really looks like a pen and they would come up to you and tap your numb eye with it several times to measure rebound pressure, to test for glaucoma. Yeah they really poke you in the eye with it, but it really does not hurt. Just strange.
Well now they have a "less invasive" method. Now they give you a drop of Flurocaine which numbs the eye and puts a fluorescence material onto the surface of the eye that mixes with the tears. Then your face is strapped down to a chin rest and another insturment is pressed into the eye to squish "flatten" it a bit and then a blue ultraviolet light is shined at the eye which activates the fluorescence material which makes it illuminate and from where the glowing material is pooling or draining from they can actually see pressure points in the eye.
A "less invasive" method to test for glaucoma my ass. I just about needed a Valium (sedative) to calm down after that. I am a big wuss when it comes to things being anywhere near my eye, but to be strapped down and have something flatten your eyeball is just way over the top for me. They are lucky they were allowed to live today!
Nah really it wasn't that bad, please have your eye's health checked every other year.
