Purgatorial

5 September 2005

I finally finished the encyclopeadia entry that I was due to submit on 24 June (2005, that is). Getting that monkey off my back made me feel better about not working in the evening... Gavin and I had plans: we decided that we would spend almost three hours of our life in the company of fellow photographers. Our minds were made up... we were going to attend the meeting of the camera club now that it has reopened following the summer break. We were treated to a slideshow of the club president's Greek holiday snaps... complete with Greek musical accompaniment. Later we were shown another slideshow - this time digitally created - of a trip to the Orkney Isles and yet another of paintings by Lowrie (who painted matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs, apparently). A thoroughly enthralling evening was had by someone, somewhere, but not by me: I was bored rigid. I'll tell you one thing, though, it has at least done some good - for now I realise that perhaps I am not too bad a photographer after all! While the evening was less than a success, I am not quite ready to give up on them, and will be at their next meeting next Monday. It can't possibly get any worse now. Can it?

There's almost nothing so dire that a proper pint can't fix! Maybe next time you could put a couple of your shots up on the screen and show them how it's done.

Actually, I think you're one of the better photogs on PAD....
jypsee08-Sep-2005 21:41
Yup, there's nothing like a slide lecture of someone's travel bilge to put a person under. And, yup... most photography clubs are people by BAAAAADD photogs!! But, what do I know? At least you got to go out for a beer!!

Great abstract and you are a wonderful photographer. Your story reminded me of a conversation I had on Saturday in which we were talking about when everyone shot slides for some reason. Whenever you went to visit someone, you were relegated to viewing their entire vacations. You always snuck a peek to see how full the carousel was. LOL.

Very nice abstract, I love the tones and composition!

Glendower05-Sep-2005 22:00
Interesting shot - is this meant to show you being bent 'rigidly' out of shape on account of boredome at the camera club meeting?
Zak05-Sep-2005 21:59
it might be a slideshow of his trip to the supermarket next week! ;-)
