Yellowstone National Park

This is Yellowstones Grand Prismatic Spring. Its a beautiful clear aquamarine boiling pool that overflows and drizzles over to the spring below it and then they drain into the Firehole River. Its stunning how the clear water creates a mass of color with minerals. In the background you can see a bit of the forest fire devastation from 1998 I believe. There are massive area's of fire damage.

Linda, I've been there, but not for years. I certainly DO remember the smell of sulpher! This is a wonderful shot. You've used the lighting and reflection to good advantage - and I especially like the mist.

Linda, that is amazing, we have that sort of thing here in NZ. Lots of themal activity.

Lovely and great contrast of colours, with the steam giving it a mystical effect. Bea.

The fire damage is very evident.
Lovely colours in the water. When I scroll the image up and cover the steam what's left makes a beautiful abstract.
