Final Approach
by Helen Betts

Okinawa, Japan

Taken from my garden, which was literally on the final approach to the runway at Futenma MCAS (and not actually zoomed in all that much). These F18s used to pass over my house almost every day, but it was extremely difficult to catch them as they sped overhead. When I asked the Wing Commander if they couldn't perhaps fly a bit lower to help me get a better shot, he said, "If we flew any lower over your house, we'd take the roof off!" He did oblige me one time by "buzzing" the house personally, but unfortunately I was focusing on the racket rather than taking a picture.

Excellent capture, and I love the commentary. Um, could you buzz my house, please? ;^)

Cool shot - it must have been flying really low to capture such detail!
